NANTUCKET WHALING MUSEUM Nantucket, Massachusetts
A wedding dress worn by four generations of island women. Vividly illustrated journals made by whalers traveling across the known world. The Nantucket Whaling Museum’s artifacts are as varied and eclectic as the island itself. In the museum’s extensive collections sit objects from the heyday of the whaling industry alongside elaborate embroidery, beautiful clothing, and scientific instruments. The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) decided to bring some of these lesser-known, yet vibrantly compelling, collection items back into the public eye via a temporary exhibit. ObjectIDEA, along with HER Design, worked with the NHA on developing and designing this exhibit.
